Welcome to
Labyrinth Art Therapies

Introduction
My name is Marije Laarakker. Originally from the Netherlands, but living in New Zealand since 2010.
As a child I enjoyed Waldorf/Steiner education. After finishing the course Social Community Work, I studied Anthroposophical Art Therapy at UAS Leiden.
Both studies have been of huge importance in my work with children, adults, homeless, aids-patients and the elderly.
Over the years I have done several courses in Aged Care, Dementia Care and Diversional Therapy. Creating balance between the material and the spiritual world is of great importance to me. Working with universal energies and Ceremonial Cacao are ways for weaving these worlds and creating harmony.

Experience
During my studies, I worked with children and adults in several settings such as day care, care facilities and in Steiner Schools in France and the Netherlands.
After graduating I held practice in a Steiner school for children with behavioral issues and learning difficulties.
I worked with drug-addicted aids patients in a care unit in the red light district of Amsterdam and for ten years I was both Social Worker and Art Therapist in a community where people came from different walks of life, in need of assistance to get their life back on track.
After our move to New Zealand I became a care giver and worked in several rest homes. Encouraged to expand my talents as a therapist I completed the New Zealand course for Diversional Therapy, and successfully coordinated and organised activities, art therapy, music therapy and entertainment for the elderly. I currently offer Anthroposophical Art Therapy at the Motueka Rudolf Steiner School. I offer monthly Cacao Ceremonies combined with a painting session or gentle movement at the Imaginarium Motueka and in January 2024 the Kindle and Reignite program will kick off on Tuesdays at the Riwaka Bowling Club.
